Striped ruffly skirt refashion tutorial

I am IN LOVE with my new skirt.

For some reason it kinda reminds me a bit of Mary Poppins.. Something i think she would wear.

I found this dress at the thrift store and thought it would be a cute skirt.

Here is the before and after.

(It really was a ugly dress.)

Here is what i did.

I cut out the skirt part of the dress and then i grabbed a skirt i already had and cut around it about 2 inches bigger.

(Make sure you trim closer from the bottom so you can keep that clean sew line that it already has and less work)

With the extra material i Ruffled it up and made it long enough for the skirt Then you turn the ends and sew

right sides pin and sew.

When you turn the ruffles down it should look like this

right sides together you sew along the sides.

Then for the top just fold and sew.

Iron the ruffle down.

Now you have a cute little skirt that only took about 30 mins to make!

      • Mayya! I am so freakin fllbaousuy 100% in LOVE with your blog, website, sewing, everything! Oh wow I’m so glad you commented on my post! Weird that I never noticed you in Shahrazad’s blogroll. I’ve been her pal for several months now, and even convinced her to have coffee with me when I was up in Muscat in June. I usually check out all the blogs she follows because she has good blog-taste! Anyway, I used to do lots of sewing when I was younger. I was obsessed as a child and a teenager. I had an entire sewing workshop in the house to myself, collected hundreds of pieces of fabric, buttons, zippers, patches, etc. One of the best periods of my life. I used to sew my clothes and make really cool school bags for myself with cool logos on them. I made customized fabric notebook covers for my friends, notepad boards for the kitchen, bags, scarves, hair scrunchies, little pouches, everything! I guess I stopped when I started university because I never had any time. Last summer my aunt brought me ten little pouches of fresh lavender for my closet sewn by an old lady in a tiny village in the South of France. Since then I’ve been looking for inspiration and seeing if I can develop any Omani scent pouches. Searching for Omani plants that I can dry and put in pouches. Maybe Jasmine. Maybe even frankincense! Anyway, I totally love your blog, so I’ll keep following. Best of luck!

Just Lovely Things – The Love Club

My package arrived and i was so thrilled! I was like a little girl jumping of the excitement like if i got a new toy or something!. I acknowledged the box in how cute and well branded it was. I went straight to the kitchen because i am not the fancy kind of girl that has packaging openers so i grabbed the first knife i saw to cut the tape off the sides. Glorious music sounded in my ears because i had opened a LOVE CLUB box and know i have gotten some really thoughtful goodies from great shops that i admire so much.

Taking the cute tissue paper out of the way to see a item from JUST LOVELY THINGS, NAILED IT DECALS, KNOTIE TIES, JOTTERS & JOURNALS and OPI AVOJUICE. Shut the front door! I can tell ya that i was not disappointed what so ever!

Along with the goodies there was some pretty awesome discount codes that i will be using for my Christmas shopping list like: Mandipidy, Wonton Mommy, Neon & Nude, Ninth street Notions, Fawn and Flora and Acute Designs.

Heather from Just lovely Things has done a wonderful job in putting this together and has had some great shops participate in this little love box. If you have not signed up you should! It’s so fun to expect in the mail and so fun to open and just see all these cuteness.

lace-socks-tutorial

Lace Socks Tutorial

On this tutorial i have created something really cute, LACE SOCKS. It’s like SEXY underwear for your feet! TRUST me it does make your confidence level boost up wearing these haha. When i wear them around with heels or flats i ALWAYS get at least one person compliment and think they are super cute! Absolutely a  cute accessory for your feet!

I Love the Wal-mart brand GEORGE for the socks. I found that they work the best since they come in  pack of 2 for about $5 and they stay on your feet because it has a heel grip. They also mold to your feet nicely because of being made of 65% cotton, 32% nylon and 3% spandex. On top of that they come with a Hidden ball of foot cushion so they give you that extra comfort if you wear  heels!

The Lace i got at Joanns and you only need 3 scallops of lace for each foot.

Step 1:

Buy your materials. Socks and 2 stripes of 3 scalloped lace

DSCN2161

Step 2:
Turn the sock inside out and pin the lace around the edges.

DSCN2162

Step 3:
Sew the lace around the rim if the sock .

DSCN2166

Step 4:
Trim off the rest of the lace and any thread that is left over.

DSCN2168

Step 5:
Flaunt them! ;)

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial and can’t wait to bring more to you!
